Sally Ride became famous for being the first American woman in space, but she had many accomplishments before she left earth’s atmosphere. She was born in California in 1951 and showed an interest in science early in her childhood. Instead of playing with dolls, Sally spent hours with her telescope learning about the solar system. She attended Stanford University where she earned a degree in Physics and English, and also played tennis very competitively. She went on to earn a Master of Science degree and a Doctorate in Physics.
During this self-guided program, participants will learn about science careers, experiment with lasers, re-create the birth of a star, and of course- build a rocket and then launch it!
